BBR Bergslagen Gravel

This race was born on training rides: in the summer of 2021 former racer Fredrik Berg was riding his home roads in the north of Örebro county, noticed there was no event to show them off, and with three local friends had a first edition running that autumn.

The courses are almost entirely fast gravel through the forests and lakes of Bergslagen, on roads that are close to car-free, with only a short stretch of singletrack. The race has moved from an A-to-B route starting at Loka Brunn to a loop based at the Hurtigtorpet recreation area in Hällefors, and the course was reversed and extended for 2026 to make it tougher and safer.

From the start the organisers have aimed for a family feel with a high level of service, and it has grown from about 40 riders to a field that draws much of Sweden's MTB and road elite. In 2026 it hosted the final of the SWE Cup gravel series, while the untimed exercise classes keep it open to anyone who simply wants a day in the wilderness, with an after-race burger included.
