Brabantse Wouden Ultra Gravel is a long day in the saddle on one of the longest Sundays of the year, starting and finishing in Leuven and looping through the Brabantse Wouden National Park. The routes link its great forests, among them the Meerdaalwoud, the Zoniënwoud and the Hallerbos, with the green river valleys in between.
The organisers warn riders to expect roughly a thousand metres of climbing for every hundred kilometres in this region. The longest distances leave around sunrise, riders navigate by GPS, and the finish stays open until late in the evening for those who take their time.
Count Me In, the organiser behind the PlugPlug Gravel rides, supports it fully: coffee and pastries at the start, checkpoints with drinks, fruit and snacks, pancakes and hot dogs at the Overijse stop, extra food for the longest routes and mechanical help along the way.
