Emilia Gravel is a self-supported bikepacking journey from Busseto, the home town of Giuseppe Verdi, to Reggio Emilia, ridden as one open stage with no time limit: riders follow the GPX track and choose for themselves where to stop, eat and sleep.

The routes cross the provinces of Piacenza, Parma and Reggio Emilia on white roads and cycle paths, linking the medieval villages of Castell'Arquato and Vigoleno, the castles of Torrechiara and Canossa, the Stirone and Taro river parks and the flat-topped Pietra di Bismantova in the Apennine foothills. The organisers give each route a dialect motto, from the easy-going 'Tola Dolsa' (take it easy) to the 'Tin Bota' (hang in there) of the original long line.

It is run as a non-competitive event by the Gruppo Gravel Reggio Parma club, which recently added free roofed base camps in village gyms along the way and moved the finish into the centre of Reggio Emilia, next to the railway station, with showers and a bike wash.
