Gravel Grind West is an off-road day out in the west of Ireland, run by RaceFace Events from County Mayo. Its routes use boreens, bog roads, Coillte forest tracks and old greenways, with access to private land and tracks that are normally closed to riders.
The event began in Westport and in 2026 moved to Ballinrobe in South Mayo, with a new route along the shores of Lough Mask, into the foothills of the Partry Mountains and back by Lough Carra. It is untimed and the organisers stress exploring over racing: riders navigate with a GPX file, helped by a few signs, and finish with a hot meal.
Gravel, mountain, hybrid and cyclocross bikes are all welcome, as are pedal-assist e-bikes, and the shorter loop is pitched at riders with reasonable fitness and a little gravel experience.
