About this event

Gravel Montijo is a new two-day gravel event on the south bank of the Tagus, set up by Lima e Limão together with Montijo town council. Its organisers pitch it as a blend of competition, adventure and discovery of the territory, and hope it will grow into a national reference for gravel in Portugal.

The routes follow rural paths, dirt roads and natural trails through Montijo's countryside, with GPS navigation. It is a municipality of contrasts: an urban, industrial core on the edge of the Tagus estuary, and inland rural parishes such as Canha and Pegões where cork oak montado and vineyards still shape the land, close to the eastern edge of the Tagus Estuary Nature Reserve.

The weekend is built to serve both sides of the sport. Riders who want a full stage race can take on both days, while the Sunday works on its own as a more relaxed, recreational outing, with rest areas, mechanical support and some entertainment around the event.
