This December round of the Mills n Moors series leaves the Endurance Hub in Littleborough for the tracks and lanes of Rooley Moor and the hills beyond, on routes graded for gravel bikes and for mountain bikes, with a longer epic option for experienced riders who do not mind a lot of climbing.
It is a relaxed, self-guided day out rather than a race: there is no mass start and no waymarking, riders follow the GPX on their own device and set off when they are ready after a tea or coffee at the hub. Expect a bit of everything the moors can throw at a bike, from cobbles, peat and gritstone to smooth and loose gravel, towpaths and stone slabs. It is organised by Adrian Wright's Yorkshire Divide, the team behind the Calder Divide Trail and the Pennine 500.
