About this event
Nature is Bike turns the Lac de Maine, on the edge of Angers, into a weekend camp for gravel riders and bike travellers: an exhibitor village with bikes to test, a campsite, live music and a guinguette spirit that recent editions have leaned into, with the emphasis on community and fun over competition.
The routes leave town along the Maine to La Pointe, where it meets the Loire, then climb between the vine rows of the Layon, Aubance and Savennières wine country and run fast through the forests around Beaulieu, with the Château de Brissac on the horizon and views over the Loire. Most of it is on wide tracks made for riding side by side. Angers also sits where the Loire à Vélo, Vélo Francette and Vallée du Loir à Vélo routes meet, a natural base for the festival's mix of night riding, overnight bikepacking with a bivouac and gentle family loops.
The festival is run by Destination Angers, the city's tourism agency, which says it has eco-designed the event from the start and holds ISO 20121 certification for sustainable events. Its idea of gravel is freedom: getting off busy roads, exploring a region under your own steam and reconnecting with nature, which is why the festival feels more like a gathering than a race.
