About this event

The Strathpuffer is the Highlands' legendary 24-hour mountain bike race, held every January in the depths of a Scottish winter near Strathpeffer. Riders take on freezing temperatures and around 17 hours of darkness, plus whatever the weather throws at them, from rain and hail to the odd spell of sunshine.

The format is the traditional one: laps of a single course from Saturday morning to Sunday morning, raced solo, in pairs or in teams of four, with two marshalled safety points out on the loop. Its reputation travels well beyond Scotland, and the organisers say it now draws competitors from all over the world since a US bike magazine listed it among the ten toughest mountain bike events on the planet.
