About this event
The Gralloch brought top-level international gravel racing to Britain as the country's first UCI Gravel World Series round, and it has since grown into a three-day festival in the small town of Gatehouse of Fleet. The sharp end races for qualification to the world and European championships, with a standalone women's race, while an ultra that rides on through the night and a non-competitive sportive make the weekend just as much for riders who simply want to see Galloway.
The playground is the Galloway Forest Park, inside the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere: wide forestry roads past Loch Skerrow and Loch Grannoch, open moorland, and climbs with local reputations such as Fuffock Hill and Slaughter Hill. Recent editions have shown both faces of the place, from bone-dry, sun-baked trails in 2025 to cold rain and near-freezing hours for the first ultra riders in 2026. The racing tends to be close, too: in 2025 Petr Vakoč took the men's win by three hundredths of a second.
It is run by Red On Sports, the team that created the original British Gravel Championships, with a strong local streak: route checks by Galloway-native guides, a campsite on the edge of town, live music, local food and craft beer in the Event Village, and a Sustainable Event Charter from the biosphere for its 2026 edition.
