Waletrail

The Waletrail is a nature trail race in the woods around Lipperscheid, in the commune of Bourscheid in Luxembourg's canton of Diekirch. Its name joins Wansart and Lëppschent, and the courses stay off tarmac as much as they can, dropping into the valley for plenty of climbing and unusual viewpoints along the way.

In 2027 the race hosts Luxembourg's national long-distance trail championships, but the mood stays relaxed: runners get professional timing at a modest price, a bar, food and music, a photographer, plus showers and changing rooms after the finish.

It is run by the volunteer association ASBL Waletrail, which wants to show off its corner of the country in a trail spirit of good humour and solidarity, and which hands its profits on to local associations. Results pages go back to 2022, and the start is reachable by public transport from the nearby Michelau and Goebelsmühle stations.
