About this event

The Winter Mills n Moors is a midwinter day out in the Calder Valley, based at The Bike Shop in Halifax, a small independent shop in a former mill a minute from the station, where riders sign on over tea, coffee and home bakes before heading out when they are ready.

The routes stick to tracks on millstone grit because it drains well in winter, linking bridleways through North Dean and Southowram woods with long, flowing double track and finishing with the descent of Coal Pit Lane into Halifax. The longest route heads out over remote moorland at Standedge, White Hill and Withens Gate. Navigation is by GPX with no waymarking, and gravel bikes, e-bikes and mountain bikes are all welcome.
