Abruzzo Gravel is an unsupported bikepacking adventure with a clear message on its homepage: no race. It invites riders to slow down, follow their own rhythm and discover the wilder, less known side of Abruzzo, between rolling hills and the region's highest peaks.
Instead of one fixed course, the organisers offer a set of tracks that work like petals around a centre: ride one, or join several to design a trip of any length. They run on trails, dirt roads and quiet secondary roads past forgotten villages, untouched woods and clear lakes, with art, history and local traditions along the way, and the 2027 edition adds a new loop through the Sirente Velino regional park.
The fourth edition is based in Popoli Terme, and the project also publishes dozens of shared loops across the provinces of L'Aquila, Pescara, Teramo and Chieti for riders to explore year round.
