About this event

Æthelred Ultra is a self-supported gravel ultra around the old kingdom of Wessex, created by a rider who spent years racing ultras and wanted to show off his home roads. The route is a figure of eight through Dorset, Wiltshire and the New Forest, favouring fast, clean gravel and quiet back roads over rutted fields and footpaths.

Race HQ sits at the crossing point of the two loops, a campsite near Salisbury, so riders can sleep, refuel and even change their kit halfway round, or ride a single loop as an introduction to ultra racing. Making a first ultra less daunting is one of the event's main aims, and the full route file is only released a week before the start to keep some suspense.
