Bikemaraton Drásal

Drásal is one of the cult mountain bike marathons of the Czech Republic. It began in 1993, when a group of riders from Holešov wanted to find out how far you could ride in a day in the Hostýn Hills; the first official edition followed in 1994 with 52 starters. The race takes its name from Josef Drásal, a Holešov native remembered as the tallest man ever to live in the Czech lands.

The routes climb from the town square into the forested Hostýn Hills of eastern Moravia, and the menu now runs from a family ride to Obr Drásal, the giant loop added in 2014 that has hosted the Czech ultramarathon championship. Alongside the classic mountain bike distances there is a dedicated Drásal gravel route, so riders on drop bars can take on the same hills.

The event has been part of the Kolo pro Život series for years and was once a round of the UCI MTB Marathon Series, with wave starts, children's races and a full race village making it a weekend for the whole family.
