About this event

Named after the European bison that still roam its woods, Bison Ultra-Trail takes runners deep into Puszcza Knyszyńska, a vast, taiga-like conifer forest that curves around Białystok in north-eastern Poland. The courses follow forest paths and tracks and climb the Wzgórza Świętojańskie, a glacial ridge between Supraśl and Gródek with steeper slopes than most people expect from Podlasie.

The organisers see the race as a way into Podlasie itself, a borderland where Catholic, Orthodox, Muslim and Jewish traditions have lived side by side for centuries. Runners pass roadside chapels and Orthodox churches, and the base in Supraśl, a spa town grown up around a Baroque monastery, sits right inside the landscape park.

It is run by the Fundacja Białystok Biega as the heart of the Bison Festival, a weekend that also includes the Bison MTB race and a children's run. The 2026 edition was the biggest yet, with more than two thousand finishers in the trail races alone.
