Bucovina Ultra Rocks by UTMB

Bucovina Ultra Rocks brings the UTMB World Series to the Eastern Carpathians of northern Romania, with its race village on the central square of Câmpulung Moldovenesc. The organisers pitch it as a crossing into another way of life as much as a mountain race, and the weekend schedule wraps the racing in an Ultra-Trail Village, an opening ceremony and a concert.

The courses climb through old-growth forest and past centuries-old shepherds' sheepfolds, thread the narrow Devil's Mill Gorge and pass beneath the limestone towers of Lady's Rocks. The longest race sets off late on Friday night and runs through the dark into the next day, while the shortest starts high up at the Alpin Rarău resort.

As part of the UTMB World Series, the races give runners Running Stones toward the UTMB finals, and the longest course is also listed as a qualifier for the Western States 100. Shorter courses and a kids' race make it a weekend for every level of runner.
