Crosskovácsi Marathon

Crosskovácsi is a mountain bike marathon on the doorstep of Budapest, run by a local sports and environmental association from Nagykovácsi, the village the organisers like to call a cult place of Hungarian mountain biking. The race centre sits in the park of the Tisza manor house, and the event is part of the Intersport Mountain Series.

Nagykovácsi lies in a valley ringed by the Kutya-hegy, the Nagy-Kopasz and the spurs of the Nagy-Szénás, inside the Buda Landscape Protection Area, and most of the land around it is nature reserve. The courses loop through these forested hills on a big circuit with climbs to Anna-lak and Nagykopasz, so even the middle distance packs serious climbing for its length.
