Desert Bike Race

A four-stage gravel race across the Tunisian Sahara, from Bir Soltane to Zmela.

The organisers structure the race around four distinct terrain blocks across the south of Tunisia: sand and rocks on the opening stage; broad plateaus and mountain roads with views stretching to the Mediterranean; canyons, dry valleys and the historic fortified ksour villages that define the region; and a closing stage through canyons and oasis landscapes alongside the Berber village of Chenini.

The event addresses two audiences on the same route. The Competitive format runs with official timing and classification across the full course. The Non competitive format covers the same four stages at the rider's own pace, without the pressure of racing, and is open to gravel, MTB and e-bike.

The race is organised by Avventura Sport, a tour operator with four decades of experience running adventure logistics in Tunisia. Pre-registration also brings membership of the Desert Bike Club, framed by the organisers as access to a wider community of riders and to future editions and destinations before public registration opens.

Beyond the ride, the organisers position the week as a cultural experience. Camps, lodging, transfers and on-the-ground support are handled by the organising team.
