Eislek Gravel brought the UCI Gravel World Series to Luxembourg for the first time in 2025, and the little town of Vianden has made a stage of it: the race opens on a steep cobbled climb up to the castle, and the circuit passes back through town several times, with spectators riding the chairlift up to the castle to watch.
This is the Eislek, the hilly, forested north of the country. From the castle the loop dives into the Vianden forest for a long climb to the top of the course at about 510 metres, then rolls along ridges above the town and past the Our dam. It is a hard, hilly circuit that rewards climbers as much as fast rouleurs, and the 2026 edition was raced in heat close to 37 degrees.
Saturday is the gentler side of the weekend, with an event village, a partner expo and rides for those who want to discover the region at their own pace, before the qualifying race for the Gravel World Championships on Sunday.
