Esbravada is a 95 km gravel adventure through the most spectacular landscapes of the Empordà, with 1,150 m of climbing. Not a race but a supported ride designed for cyclists who enjoy real distance, shared effort, and discovering the territory pedal by pedal.
The 2026 edition takes place on 6 August, starting and finishing at Gran Fondo Community in Palafrugell. Places are limited; registration is €40.
Hosted out of Gran Fondo Community. Esbravada is more than a route, it’s an extension of the year-round cycling culture at Gran Fondo Community, the Palafrugell-based shop that hosts and operates the ride. If you haven’t been through their doors, here’s the shape of it:
- Weekly social rides: a rolling calendar of group rides, from beginner-friendly to hard. Come solo, leave with a group.
- Bike fitting: one of the more serious biomechanical setups on the Costa Brava.
- Bike rental: including gravel bikes, so anyone showing up for Esbravada without their own can borrow one from the shop.
- Café and craft beer: a proper coffee area during the week and craft beer for post-ride debriefs.
- Showers: usable after any ride, including Esbravada itself.
The shop is a strategic point for gravel and road cycling in the Girona and Costa Brava region, a place where Esbravada isn’t a one-off on the calendar but part of a bigger cycling ecosystem.
The route. 95 km with 1,150 m of climbing across the Empordà. Getting to a final layout wasn’t straightforward as the route had to be reworked three times because of recent fires in the region, each iteration forcing a new set of paths and connections. The version riders will follow on 6 August is the fourth attempt, and it’s now on Gritline for anyone who wants to preview the terrain before the day.

A taste of what’s coming. Esbravada 2026 is small-scale by design — an intimate ride with the character of the shop that hosts it. But Gran Fondo Community is building the muscle for something more ambitious in 2027, and this edition is the appetiser. Worth showing up now to see where they’re going.
