Fast & Forest is the bike weekend of Fellbach, built around a combined mountain bike and gravel race on the Kappelberg. The name says it all: fast, open stretches on the paved farm tracks of the Fellbach winegrowers, with views over the vineyards, then forest roads and woodland paths through the Schurwald.
Long, medium and short courses start in waves from the Neue Kelter wine press hall, so riders of every level can line up on either bike. Around the race there is a kids' programme and a 45-minute charity race of short laps through the Kappelberg vineyards, and part of each entry fee goes to a nature or forest project.
The event is run by TSV Schmiden together with Marc Sanwald, carrying on from the Rems-Murr-Pokal, a road-racing highlight of the region from 2009 to 2019. The organisers say they want to prove that, with volunteer commitment and teamwork, a new off-road race can still be established at a time when many have disappeared.
