Fruška Gora Trail

Fruška Gora Trail has been held without a break since 1978, which makes it one of the oldest trail running and hiking events of its kind in Europe. The 2027 edition is the 50th, a two-day gathering in the forested hills of Fruška Gora National Park, only about ten kilometres from Novi Sad.

Almost the whole course network runs through forest. Runners pass a string of medieval Serbian monasteries such as Grgeteg, Staro Hopovo, Novo Hopovo and Jazak, the concrete shell of the television tower hit in the 1999 bombing, numerous streams and the waterfall of the Dumbovo stream, and climb to the highest point of the range. The trails are waymarked with a white circle and a red heart.

The event is run by the Železničar mountaineering and skiing association of Novi Sad and mixes two worlds: ITRA-certified competitive trails that earn points towards UTMB races, and recreational hiking trails meant to promote time outdoors and the region's natural and cultural heritage, down to a short trail for preschool children walking with their parents.
