Further Elements Scotland

Further is a small series of bikepacking rides set up by Camille McMillan, built around one simple idea: bringing people together. Riders gather the night before, share a meal, roll out at dawn and come back to the hostel whenever they finish, to eat, swap stories and maybe have a beer.

Elements takes that format to the Scottish Highlands at the very end of autumn, when the days are short and the weather makes the rules. Earlier editions joined remote dead-end roads with rough tracks, boggy doubletrack, river crossings and some hike-a-bike, and in 2023 the route had to be shortened after Storm Babet left damage across the Highlands. This edition starts from the youth hostel in Glencoe and finishes at the one in Glen Nevis.

Kit is taken seriously: the organiser has said plainly that a minimalist setup will not do in the Highlands at this time of year. It suits riders who want a hard, honest weekend in wild country and a warm room full of people who rode it too at the end.
