Galicja Gravel Race

Galicja Gravel Race bills itself as the fastest gravel ultramarathon in Poland, a self-supported ride through the forests of Podkarpacie and Roztocze on some of the region's best gravel. Expect wild woodland, nature reserves and forest districts crossed with full permission, nights bivvying under the open sky and the kind of tiredness that comes with a proper adventure.

The start and finish sit in a Natura 2000 area at the Centrum Natura centre in Budy Głogowskie, where a race village with food, buffets and recovery waits at the end. The route has seen many first long rides and personal bests, and its record stands at a little over sixteen hours.

It is run by Stowarzyszenie Velo Galicja, a group of riders who came to gravel in 2019 after years of mountain biking and amateur road racing. They started the race because southern Poland had almost no gravel events, and it has since grown into the Podkarpackie Gravel Festival, organised with the police, fire service, more than 20 forest districts and national parks.
