Grava Lybica runs out of Llívia, a Catalan town with a rare quirk: it's a piece of Spain entirely surrounded by France, marooned a mile inside the French Cerdagne since a 1659 treaty technicality kept it Spanish. You'll cross the border several times, which makes this event unusual. The name reaches back further still, to when Llívia was the Roman Iulia Libica, capital of the Cerdanya.

This is gravel with thin air in it. Day one is the brute with 110 km and +2,500 m along the ridgelines from Baga d'Alp to the Serra de l'Artiga. Day two is shorter: 60 km and +1,300 m leaning up toward 2,200 m at the foot of Puigpedrós. Forest road, mountain track and high borderland trail - rideable, but it asks for everything you brought.

It's framed as adventure, not race: timed segments, but no overall ranking and, the organisers insist, no rush. You carry your own water, food and pace; they handle the route, safety, water stops and provisions. The weekend centres on Llívia as base camp, with a village hub — La Foguera — running live music, talks, food trucks and family activities, plus a social ride beforehand. Less a start gantry, more a long weekend with a town that knows how to host one.
