About this event
Gravel en Vie is a spring gravel weekend on the Vendée coast, run by the Sardines Gravel Club, a Saint-Gilles association, together with the local tourist office. Sharing and discovery come before the stopwatch, and the organisers want it to stay friendly and human-sized as the field grows.
The routes leave the harbour town for the Vendée back-country, mixing pleasant tracks with carefully chosen small lanes through an inland landscape the tourist office says often surprises visitors. The 2026 base was the Salle de la Conserverie, a nod to the golden age of the town's sardine canneries.
Off the bike counts too: in 2026 the Saturday evening brought DJ sets and food for riders and their companions, and the weekend closed with a sardine feast on the quay by the fish auction.
