About this event
Gravel Podralsko is the gravel race within 50 Podralsko, a long-running bike race in the Ralsko hills of northern Bohemia. The course crosses the former military area between Mimoň, Stráž pod Ralskem, Hamr na Jezeře and Osečná, a quiet, wooded landscape with views to the castle hills of Bezděz, Děvín and Ralsko that the organisers describe as having an atmosphere found nowhere else.
The Cyklolive cycling team from Liberec lays out a fast course in gently rolling terrain, mostly on firm forest roads with meadows, short stretches of tarmac and the odd sandy passage. It is not all smooth: a sandy descent comes soon after the start and a rooty drop off Ocasovský vrch keeps riders alert.
Gravel riders get their own start corridor ahead of the mountain bikers and their own results, so the race feels like a gravel event inside a bigger festival day. It sets off from the small spa of Lázně Kundratice and finishes at the school grounds in Osečná, with children's races on the side and the event listed on the Czech Cycling Federation calendar.
