The Wicklow round of the Gravel Ride Series heads into the mountains south of Dublin, the old rebel stronghold of the Wicklow Mountains, with base camp at Glenmalure Lodge deep in the glen. Most of each route runs on forest roads, mixed with stretches of singletrack, grassy laneways and quiet county roads.

The series calls itself a collective of one-day gravel rides rather than a race. Routes are fully marked and supported with feed zones, GPS tracking and course stewards, and the day is built for riding with friends at your own pace, from newcomers on the shortest loop to experienced riders on the full Classic.

It is meant to be a weekend, not just a ride: riders can camp or park a campervan at the lodge for free, register on Friday evening to live music, and finish with a beer in the event village. The series was launched with Wicklow and Slieve Blooms as its first venues and has since grown into a small calendar of Irish gravel days.
