Gravel Sudomír

Gravel Sudomír grew out of a simple observation: the countryside around Sudoměřice, in the far south of Moravia, is made for gravel bikes. Its tracks wander between vineyards and rows of old wine cellars and run out towards the Baťa Canal, and the race was created to show riders this corner of the wine country.

It is the project of two local cycling people, Pavel Černý and Jakub Kratochvíla, who between them have helped run national road championships and Czech Cup races. They launched the idea in autumn 2022, convinced the region was missing an event like this, and set out to build a race with a tradition of its own. The format is a lapped circuit race: a main gravel race for those chasing a result and a shorter hobby race that also suits mountain bikes.

Race day is a village festival as much as a competition, with children's races on safe courses at the event base, a family programme, and in 2026 a charity ride in support of Charita Strážnice. It is a friendly, open event where club racers and curious newcomers share the same Moravian dirt.
