Gravelissimo is a community gravel ride in the Heidekreis district of Lower Saxony, run by three local riders under a motto that sets the tone: 'Leide in der Heide', suffer in the heath. Anyone is welcome, the only hard rule being that you are ready to get dirty.
It is deliberately not a race: fast riders can push, others can cruise. The 2026 route mixed forest roads, gravel, dyke and meadow paths and some tarmac, followed the Weser, had riders carry their bikes up the steps at the Weser weir near Dörverden and came home along an old railway line and the Böhme river through rapeseed in bloom. The 2027 route is revealed a few days before the start.
Food is part of the deal, with two feed stations on the route and, in 2026, flammkuchen from a wood-fired oven, cocktails and a bike wash at the finish. 2027 will be the fourth edition, and the organisers also run a WhatsApp group for regular, relaxed community rides through the year.
