About this event
Hackenpedder is a self-supported bikepacking route around Schleswig-Holstein, born from Nils' wish to build an adventurous but beginner-friendly challenge on his own doorstep, using the free trekking campsites of the Stiftung Naturschutz Schleswig-Holstein. After racing the Bohemian Border Bash and the Atlas Mountain Race, he wanted to show how varied the north can be.
The route runs between the two seas: from the cliffs at Hohwacht through the lakes and centuries-old broadleaf forests of the Holsteinische Schweiz, then along the former inner-German border with its singletrails, inland dunes and the old death strip, out to windy dykes, with gravel roads, moors and quiet back lanes in between. A shortcut shares most of the route for those newer to bikepacking.
The group start comes with a roadbook, self-hosted tracking, a brevet stamp card and staffed checkpoints with toilets, showers and a place to pitch a tent, and the community around it aims for an even split of women/FLINTA* and men in the field.
