About this event

The Headstock Challenge opens the bikepacking season in South Wales, looping out from the Tiny Rebel Brewery Bar in Rogerstone over mountain trails, open moorland, forestry and traffic-free cycleways, past the Brecon Gap, the Grwyne Fawr Reservoir and the gravel tracks of Coity Mountain. Riders can take it on as one big day or carry overnight kit and split it across the weekend.

The full route is a mountain bike ride for confident, technical riders. Alongside it, the Headstock Explorer shares the opening miles to Blaenavon, then drops onto the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and the Taff Trail, skipping the Black Mountains and Sarn Helen; All Mountain Adventures calls it the better of the two for anyone who wants to ride a gravel bike.
