Into the Wold

Into the wold is a gravel weekend in the Bregenzerwald where riding sits at the centre but is far from the only thing on the programme: great food, rides out to local businesses, night swimming at the open-air pool and talks fill the days around it. Above all it brings together people who share a passion for cycling, whether they ride with ambition or simply for pleasure.

The big shared Saturday ride offers three routes through the valley: a gentle introduction without punishing climbs, a middle option on changing surfaces with wide views and a special river crossing, and a long day with at least two leg-burning ascents rewarded by a 360-degree summit panorama. Around it the programme adds a lap-time sprint challenge, morning yoga, an architecture ride with a local expert and a free guided test ride for gravel newcomers.

Evenings matter just as much, with an open-air screening of The Flying Scotsman over Käsknöpfle, cold drinks waiting at the finish and dinner from the kitchen team of the Hotel Hirschen. The weekend closes the way it opens, with coffee and cake at the gravel café on the village square.
