About this event

La Forestière is one of France's founding mountain bike marathons. It began in 1989 when a group of riders wanted to show others their training grounds, with a traverse of the southern Jura, and it has grown into a weekend of UCI marathon racing, cross-country and long rides that has drawn thousands of riders to the region's forests.

Point-to-point routes run from high plateau villages such as Longchaumois and Les Moussières down through the forests and pastures of the Haut-Jura and the Ain mountains, finishing at the leisure park in Arbent near Oyonnax. Elite racing sits alongside non-competitive rides, an e-bike option and children's events, so club riders share the trails with national champions.

The event is run by the association La Forestière, which started with an unofficial ride between two villages and went on to pioneer race timing, safety and trail work across the area.
