About this event

La Grande Bifurkade comes from a small Alsatian outfit whose name plays on bifurquer, turning off the expected road. Its founders began with cyclo-camping holidays on old mountain bikes and panniers before moving to gravel bikes and longer trips they planned themselves, and this event is their way of sharing the routes they spent years building.

It starts in the Munster valley and climbs into the Vosges on forest tracks, high pastures and vineyard lanes. There is a mandatory checkpoint but no ranking: the organisers frame it as a personal challenge at your own pace, and they put slowing down, meeting people and enjoying the region's food and landscapes on a par with the effort.

The 2027 edition is only the second, with fully redrawn traces and a deliberately small field that keeps the feel close and friendly.
