About this event

La Indomable starts and finishes in the centre of Berja, a town on the south-eastern flank of the Sierra de Gádor in Almería, where the Alpujarra reaches towards the coast. The race climbs high into the sierra on forest tracks and technical sections, with views across to the southern slopes of Sierra Nevada, to Calar Alto and down to the Mediterranean.

The name belongs to a long-running road sportive through the Alpujarra. The gravel race grew from it, first as a round of the UCI Gravel World Series (Alejandro Valverde won it twice) and since 2025 as the only Andalusian stop of the Copa de España de Gravel. It is run by Berja's cycling club with backing from the town and the provincial council, who see it as a showcase for sport in Almería.
