About this event

The Olympus Marathon is the international mountain running event of Greece, held on Olympus, the mythical Mountain of the Gods. Its route revives the sacred path that the ancient Greeks followed each year to climb the mountain and honour Zeus.

Runners set off from the archaeological site of Dion at the foot of the mountain and climb high onto the massif before descending, a route that links ancient history with raw alpine terrain. Around the main marathon, the race weekend has grown to include an ultra that starts at midnight, a vertical race and the Eagles' Ridge (Kopsi ton Aeton) race.

The 2026 race was the 22nd edition, and the organisers publish live weather data from three altitudes on the course so runners can follow conditions on the mountain.
