About this event
Pieniny by UTMB is the new name of the Pieniny Ultra-Trail, a mountain running festival based in Szczawnica that reached its 13th edition in 2026 and now joins the UTMB World Series. Over four spring days, runners choose between a short vertical climb, mid-length mountain races and full ultras, so the town fills with every kind of trail runner at once.
The courses run through three ranges, the Pieniny, the Beskid Sądecki and the Gorce, with Szczawnica, a mountain spa town with a long heritage, as the hub. The organisers list promoting this region, ecological awareness and safe mountain running among the festival's goals.
It is organised by Fundacja Strefa Przygód together with Szczawnica-based Mountain Touch, and the town and municipality of Szczawnica have backed it as main partner for well over a decade. The festival's own motto sums up the mood: what mountains, what an adventure.
