About this event

Four centuries after Cervantes sent Don Quixote and Sancho Panza wandering across La Mancha, this loop from Toledo asks bikepackers to ride their own version of the story. It is not a race but a non-stop, self-supported challenge: riders follow a mandatory track, carry their own kit and choose where to eat and rest, whether that is a village hostel or a night under the stars. The clock only sorts finishers into gold, silver and bronze.

The route rolls out from Toledo cathedral and mixes dirt roads, quiet lanes and greenway across the plains of Castilla-La Mancha: the windmills of Campo de Criptana and Consuegra, El Toboso where Dulcinea lived, the lakes of Ruidera and the wetlands of Tablas de Daimiel, the vineyards around Tomelloso, the Bronze Age site of Motilla del Azuer and, on the way home, the rounded slopes of the Montes de Toledo.

Quixote is run by Bikepacking Experience, the team behind La Conquista and Mític Bikepacking, whose riders can chase a Triple Corona trophy for finishing all three. They see bikepackers as kindred spirits of the knight himself, minimalist, frugal and curious, and back that up with staffed checkpoints with food, a GPS tracker and a map of more than 100 cultural and practical waypoints along the way.
