About this event
Sea To Peak is Erminig's French answer to the great Divide routes: a self-supported off-road crossing of France from the Pointe de Corsen, the westernmost tip of mainland France facing the Atlantic, to Saint-Véran in the Queyras, the highest village in Europe. It is not a race but an endurance challenge against the clock, with a single mass start, checkpoints along the track and a strict time limit to finish.
The route strings together three mountain ranges from three geological eras, the Armorican Massif, the Massif Central and the Alps, through Brittany, Poitou, Limousin, Auvergne, the Aveyron, Lozère and Ardèche before a high-mountain finale over a pass above Risoul. Surfaces run from forgotten lanes to technical, rocky mountain paths, so the organiser leaves the choice between a suspended mountain bike and a very robust gravel bike to each rider's skills.
Erminig is a Breton association built on autonomy and bikepacking: no outside help is allowed, accommodation cannot be booked in advance, and every rider carries a GPS tracker so friends and dotwatchers can follow along. The ermine-badged team says its promise is carefully drawn routes and a strong ethic of self-reliance, and the finishers' welcome in Saint-Véran has been part of the story since 2021.
