About this event

The Seven Cities of Wales is a self-supported, mostly off-road loop of an entire nation, starting and finishing in Rogerstone and riding clockwise through Cardiff, Swansea, St Davids, Bangor, St Asaph, Wrexham and Newport. The cities give it shape, but the organiser says the real story is everything in between.

The character keeps changing: it starts almost like a coastal tour, turns into a gravel ride, then a mountain bikepacking route across the Preseli Hills, remote Mid Wales, Eryri and the Clwydian Range, before swinging back south through the Black Mountains and the Wye Valley on former railway lines, forestry tracks and quiet lanes.

It is not a race but a personal challenge with tracking, checkpoints and feed stations, and All Mountain Adventures reckons only around 15 people have completed the loop so far. Riders are advised to finish one of its Headstock events before taking it on.
