About this event
Storuman Gravel is a gravel ride for everyone deep in Swedish Lapland, based at Ensamheten, a small village outside Storuman that calls itself the world champions' village. It was born on the organisers' own training rides, when they decided the roads were so good that someone ought to hold a race on them.
The courses are tough, varied and hilly, all starting together and sharing the road to the first feed before the longer loops peel off into the forest and fell country of Storuman municipality. Everyone gets the same generous time limit, so the short routes leave room for lunch and coffee stops while the long one has to be ridden properly, and there are classes for e-bikes and tandems.
The same weekend hosts Storuman Gravel XL, a self-sufficient ultra through forest and mountains that the elite ride in one go while most riders split it over two days with a night in a hotel or hostel halfway. The event is run by Luspholmens Arrangorsforening with Stensele SK to show what gravel riding in the Storuman area can offer.
