Sugar Gravel calls itself the sweetest unsupported bikepacking around Stuttgart, and it plays on the city's name and its Swabian habits: the organisers joke that they swept the T out of Stuttgart and will sweep riders out of their comfort zone. Riders follow set checkpoints but pick their own way between them, across vineyards, valleys, ridges with views and a few urban highlights.
The longer route is pitched as big, wild and extra sweet, while the shorter Sugarle is a compact taste of bikepacking with a single night out. Both finish together at the Marienburg in Stuttgart-Wangen for a shared celebration, and the organiser runs the event as a part-time labour of love.
