About this event
Syötekylä Gravel Fest is the drop-bar sibling of Syöte MTB, one of Finland's best-loved mountain bike events, and both share the same summer weekend around the fells of Syöte. Riders head out from Iso-Syöte into the wilderness of Syöte National Park, a country of old spruce forest, bogs and quiet forest roads in northern Finland.
It is a mass-start, timed ride, but the day as a whole matters as much as the clock: every finisher gets a medal, and the aid stations serve pickles, rye bread and cheese. Afterwards there is a buffet, a sauna and an evening party at the hotel on the fell.
Both events are run by the volunteer club Krossikommuuni ry, which has organised racing at Syöte since 2012.
