About this event

The Great British Escapade is a self-supported bikepacking loop through the South East of England that links the North Downs Way and the South Downs Way, starting and finishing in Canterbury and heading out towards Surrey before swinging south across the Downs towards Eastbourne.

Most of the route is off-road, mixing trails and quiet back lanes, with checkpoints at Farncombe and at Alfriston on the South Downs Way. The late afternoon start and a few days to finish make it a deliberate stepping stone: tough enough for experienced bikepackers, yet never far from civilisation, so newcomers can build confidence on their first long self-supported ride.

It is the shorter sibling of the organisers' flagship Great British Divide, and riders are tracked live throughout. Part of every entry goes to Cycling UK, the National Parks Foundation and Mountain Rescue England and Wales.
