About this event

Trans Madeira is a six-day enduro stage race on Madeira and Porto Santo, created by local mountain bikers who wanted to share their forests, trails and the island they call home with riders from around the world. Each day links several timed special stages with long transitions, some helped by shuttles, and the route stays secret until the briefing on registration day.

Madeira packs remarkably varied terrain into a small island: misty highland forests, volcanic rock and sun-baked coastal descents, so every stage feels like a different country. The week closes with a ferry crossing to Porto Santo for the final day of racing, followed by the awards and a party.

Riders live together in bike camps for the week, each in their own tent, with four meals a day provided, which makes it as much a shared adventure as a race. It is open to any capable mountain biker, with professionals only a small share of the field, and names such as Steve Peat, Brendan Fairclough and Jerome Clementz have raced it.
