About this event
Founded in 1988, the Transvésubienne is one of the old names of marathon mountain biking in Europe: a point-to-point race that starts high in the Vésubie valley at La Colmiane and drops all the way to the sea in Nice. On the way it crosses the peaks, forests and valleys of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Nice hinterland, with a lot more descending than climbing.
Its reputation rests on demanding, technical and committing trails that test fitness and bike handling as much as each other, and the organiser bills it as one of the toughest races in the world. A shorter Explorer course joins the line from Roquebillière, e-bikes have their own category with battery changes along the valley, and a mass start sends everyone off together.
The race is run by UCC Sport Event, which lays on shuttles from Nice up to the start so riders can base themselves on the coast. In 2026 the weekend also opened to trail runners for the first time, with a run through the heart of the Vésubie valley the day before the bikes.
